An extraordinary Past Master
A life of unremitting labour in the service of others.

W. Bro. Dr. William James Leighton, Past Master of Townley Parker Lodge 1032 (1920)
The son of Samuel Leighton, the esteemed Belfast Freemason, W. Bro. Dr. William John Leighton was a pioneering doctor in Chorley and a passionate champion of a new hospital for the town. A Past Master of Townley Parker Lodge in 1920, he was deeply involved in Chorley’s civic, church and sporting life, while remaining a devoted husband and father to his young daughter.
Tragically, his life was cut short in 1925 at just 42 years of age.
Our Secretary delivered a moving lecture of thanksgiving and remembrance to the brethren, and the day before placed a small floral token at his grave, reminding our Brother that he is not, and never will be, forgotten.
Special thanks are extended to the IPM for his invaluable assistance in researching our distinguished Past Master.
The research of our brother is continuing and the lecture is being developed further and will be published here in full in the near future

We were also honoured to welcome W.Bro Johnathan Heaton, Assistant Provincial Grand Master to oversee this special occasion.
